“I needed a "daily driver" something versatile that I could take with me every day; more than a briefcase, but less than a backpack. I wanted something that I could stuff my laptop into or my running shoes. I saw the Karl and thought it would be perfect. The form and design are rugged; but the color (cognac) and the hardware make it look elegant, I think the Karl is right on the crux of beauty and brawn -- just what I wanted! As a bike commuter, I wanted to make sure the bag fit snug against my body so I could throw it across my back when I was riding. I had Chris punch a few extra holes in the strap so that I could tighten the bag against my body. That might seem "simple enough" but I can't imagine walking into Bottega Veneta, Gucci or Prada saying "I need your bag to be modified, can you punch a few holes here" I would be laughed at. Chris on the other hand, welcomed the personalization. I have this bag with me almost 7 days a week, it goes to the gym, it goes to work with a roll of architecture plans between the handles, I take it grocery shopping, or sometimes if I'm just out for a walk and need a place for my water bottle and camera. The side that rubs against my body is developing a deep and dark patina, it has become as smooth as marble with rich but subtle changes in color. I like how it's aging so much that I occasionally flip the bag around so that my body starts rubbing on the front, hoping that I can achieve similar aging characteristic on the outward facing side. One tiny downside is that I cannot use the cellphone pocket inside, that is because it's stuffed with Chris' business cards for when I get stopped by strangers and questioned about my Karl. After the strangers inevitably praise the bag, there's something very satisfying about telling them "thanks, my friend made it for me in Downtown LA" Our Ambassador, Michael. Los Angeles, CA
