Making of an "Ultimate Briefcase"
In early January, we received a phone call from our friend Rich. He had been searching for quite some time for a unique and extraordinary briefcase for himself and two of his friends. Luckily, Rich found us in a recent issue of Rolls Royce magazine.
Rich called us with what he was looking for and after some discussion and consultation, we decided on the Francis Briefcase, Braided in English Bridle.
So, we got to work on the briefcases for Rich and his friends and the first step, begin with the leather.
Two weeks into the Tanning and Distressing process, we saw nice development in each of the pieces of the leather we chose. This was our first attempt at making three identical bags at once and Rich made a request to pair the leather of each briefcase with the level of tanning. Pairing the leather turned out to be a lot of fun for us!
With the tanning and distressing of the leather completed, the assembly of each bag was ready to be assembled and to be braided.
When it comes to “Braiding” leather, there are a number of different techniques and methods used to do it ranging from a very simple technique to something requiring special talent and extreme precision. The method we use for “Braiding” is perhaps one of the most sophisticated methods out there and we happen to have the best technician in the world to achieve it. Allow us to show you some of the steps included:
What an experience and absolute pleasure it was for us to witness each briefcase being born. Admiring all three of the briefcases side-by-side, we took the photo below to show all of you.
We thank Rich for his business and for allowing us the opportunity to serve him and his friends but more importantly, Rich had inspired us to add the final piece of the puzzle to the Francis Briefcase.
Of course, we’re very proud of the design of the Francis Briefcase and we believe we’ve done an excellent job creating a briefcase with Classic American Design combined with Modern Functionality. Still, I couldn’t help but to have the feeling the briefcase was somewhat “incomplete” & We weren’t sure what that missing piece was…..
Having another discussion regarding the interior options, Rich said he wanted a divider to store his laptop. Of course, being the exquisite gentleman that he is, he asked if there was a better option than what we had been offering….. Then, we finally figured out what that missing piece was.
It was an absolute pleasure & thank you very much for allowing us an opportunity to serve you.
We are delighted to hear that your friends were just as happy as you were upon receiving your gifts.
We hope your Francis Briefcase accompanies to many wonderful journeys & legacies.
