After spending its last 3 weeks under our care, these shoes are finally on their way to its owner, Mr.Singh.... restarting its Journey again. We are very happy & excited with the way it turned out. For a detailed story, please be sure to check the link below.
We are invited to a very special exhibition & it is less than 2 weeks away. Our exhibition space is only 2 Meter X 2 meter... little over than 6ft X 6ft. I have been thinking how best to represent Sandast for past few months & this photo gave me an answer. I will be working on our display fixture with a friend as I know nothing about carpentry.
We are simply incredibly lucky or Perhaps, Los Angeles is the city of Angels with a lot of talents. I was having a drink with Brett & told him that I would just need a friend who can help us with the display. Sure enough, Brett's best friend is the production artist & Matt is the name. I had invited Matt over on Wednesday night & got him a few drinks.... , and next day, we've started our small project.
Matt had finished the main frames yesterday & I am painting to mimic the brick wall look. Just getting started!
Once the painting on the display was done on Friday, Matt & I put the displays together on Saturday.
Cole Mead - New Sandast Contributor
I would like to introduce Mr. Cole Mead, a new Sandast Contributor. Cole is an adventurer & photographer. He found us via Instagram & came to visit us. I am not sure what it is, but I've always liked working with people from Mid-West.... & Cole is from Midwest. He told me the story of his upbringing in Midwest & how he'd decided to come to Los Angeles.
Then he said... "Chris, I want to take Sandast bags to the places that you wouldn't see them in under the normal circumstances". & This is the 1st story by Cole. Hope you guys enjoy it.
Rolling out of Laguna Beach on a late night and falling swiftly onto the domestic asphalt waves of the 5, several of my nights in southern California have started and ended this way. As civilizations plastic yellow stars faded into the background and were slowly but so happily replaced by a few more stars as each moment passed i felt ever more at home. The familiar rhythmic alternating hop of the wheels as we rolled down washboard dirt road; the kind of road that makes me fell so at home. Accompanied by the soft indie music turned up just so its louder than the tunes provided by the road.
As we pulled into the sandy parking area and the van settled gratefully into place i hopped out and looked up to see the milky way whisping its bright hello across the sky.Seeing the Milky Way stretch in all its beauty across the night sky like a piece of black construction paper with a million tiny holes in it inspired me to throw the sleeping bag on top of the van and sleep on top of van. Settling in and slowly getting whisked to sleep by the cool gentle desert winds under such a gorgeous sky is by no exaggeration one of the greatest experiences of my life thus far.
Waking up in the morning to early morning sun just peaking over the sandstone cliffs as if mother nature was waving hi was the perfect way to start the morning. As i brewed coffee on top of van legs crossed contently and just watching the light gradually wake world up as it spilled over more of the winding desert roads. As Breezy and I loaded the backpack, water, and camera up I got visibly giddy as i do every time i get to experience the smooth slopping of the path of water across the earth. Over the next few hours as both us and the bag got thrashed in the unforgiving desert heat pictures started to unfold in the moment. As sand was tossed and the light cut like a knife down into our small sanctuary of shade i couldn’t help but appreciate the bag and the elements we were putting it through.
Putting this bag through the hell of 108 degrees and hauling it the sandstone walls when there was no other way to get it up the route made me both happy and duly impressed with the bag. As an adventurer I’m known to find my comfort in those places that others actively stay away from. This bag can take what i throw at it, which as i break everything is saying a lot.
- Cole Mead-
On Thursday morning, I headed out to Lake Tahoe. I have been frequently visiting Mammoth Mountain for the winter retreat & always enjoyed its scenic view & drive of highway 395. Little that I knew that it gets much better after the city of "Bishop". It made 8 hour drive a lot easier.
Simply put, Lake Tahoe is incredibly beautiful. The Fresh air, Vast Emerald blue water, and surrounding mountains are so calming & peaceful. It was exactly what I needed before going to the event that I have been waiting for the past 12 months.

2018 Rolls-Royce Owner's Club
It was in June 2017 when I had received an email & phone call from St.James's House London that Sandast had been selected & invited to 2018 Rolls-Royce Owner's Club as a sponsor. My initial thought was it had to be a joke or a hoax. After a few exchanged emails & a lengthy phone conversation, I came to a realization that it was for real. And, I had to ask the obvious question. "How did you guys find Sandast & Why are we invited?".
She said. "There is a Gentleman who wishes to remain anonymous & He made a strong recommendation that Sandast is to be invited. Upon doing some research, our team came to a conclusion that Sandast's philosophy aligns with that of Rolls-Royce, "Strive for Perfection"... so Sandast is invited.
I must admit.... I still had some doubts lingering in my mind if this could be real even as I was arriving in Lake Tahoe. Once when I arrived at the Venue & saw the hundreds of Rolls-Royce beautifully parked, I was relieved & relaxed.
Once I was relieved, The Cars obviously came to my views. So many old Classics & these cars all got here by its owners driving from all over the US, Canada, and some even from UK & Australia.
I enjoyed my time admiring all these Classics & started to converse with many of its owners who were cleaning & doing the last minute check up for tomorrow's Judging event. I was told that it was a festivity & all about having fun... but the way these Gentlemen were caring their cars, there were some obvious competitiveness in a fun way.
While browsing the cars, I met John & Stacy, a cool couple from Austin, Texas who offered me some wines & told me a great deal about its club & their passion for Rolls Royce. I was like a kid in a candy store & all these owners were extremely kind to offer me wines..... and Of course, I didn't object as whatever wine they were drinking were all very good. =)
I woke up early next morning to set up the booth. It was a day of festivity & wanted to make sure I get the booth set up early... so that I can enjoy the day. Around 11am, our booth was completed & it looked pretty darn good!
There also were many Modern Rolls-Royce, but I was more drawn to its classics. By 1pm, the contest was over & people were making their way to the lunch on event. I went to my room to catch some naps.
The Gala Dinner & 2019 Rolls-Royce Book launch party started at 5:30pm. By the time I got there, there were 2019 Rolls Royce books at the entrance & I grabbed 2 books (2 books were allowed for each sponsor). I am not sure how to express my feeling upon seeing us in its publication. Not only we were featured in 2 pages, but I am proud to tell you all that we were the only Leather company featured & invited. For a brief moment, I was proud of ourselves and got a bit emotional. For those of you who are familiar with our Journey..... I felt as if I got a pat on the back from a friend for a job well done.
For some reason, I felt comfortable & ease, but I would be lying to you if I tell you that I wasn't nervous. I was nervous when the show started & all these members started to come in. And then, Renee came to say Hi & soon after that Bill came to meet me....& I had no idea they both were members of RROC. After that, it felt like home. Bill was so kind to bring his friends & we started talking, cracking jokes, and sharing war stories. We all got drunk & turned out to be a beautiful night!
I've made new friends & I am happy to inform you all that we've also welcomed new Ambassadors into our family. Simply put, Our Ambassadors are the Best!!!
It was awesome to meet you all & I hope to see you Ladies & Gentlemen again in Detroit 2019!!
- Our Journey with RROC will continue in 2019 - Stay tuned!
Next morning, I felt the aftermath of last night's drinking & felt tired.... Yet, I simply couldn't just leave without seeing the lake or its trail. I enjoyed the lake a bit then..... again, took highway 395 home. It was a long drive, but I was feeling all right coming home.
On an eve of my scheduled trip to N.Y, Brett came to visit me after spending a few weeks on the road & testing his camera strap. I had to ask him how it was & he said, “Chris, it works like a charm!”. Finally, after 7 months of making, we now introduce Brett Camera Strap. Read the full story of its making in our “Bespoke” page.
Leo finally has his helmet as well!
