I spent the better part of last week exploring the Land of Enchantment, the state of New Mexico. As some of you may have noticed, I'm a guy that enjoys the "way things used to be" from high-quality American made craftsmanship to classic cars, Rock & Roll to train travel (coincidentally rocking and rolling along the train tracks...) so for this trip out to New Mexico, I decided to take the Amtrak train from Los Angeles to Albuquerque to meet with a friend coming in from New York.Read More
Prior to introducing our new collection, I had to visit Wickett & Craig whose leather is a new addition to Sandast family. I typically do not travel in a month of Jan and a rural Pennsylvania would be the last place I would've thought of traveling to.Read More
I am extremely glad that I had taken this trip. Not only I was able to achieve what I wanted and more, but more importantly, the fact that I had finally visited Tuscany & Firenze and it changed my perspective of Italy entirely.Read More
Walking the streets of London and thinking about the collection, I had this visual tone of Cobblestone color I wanted and have been searching for the leather that can enable me to express it. I thought I got lucky and found it. When I finally received the sample, the color and the tone were perfect, but it was made using the belly and the yield was very poor.. so with much regret, I had dropped this leather and decided to go with the traditional brown tone.
However, the thought and want of cobblestone tone kept coming back to me.Read More
Leather distressing on "Vegetable Tanned Full Grain Leather"
has been the core distinction & uniqueness in Sandast's collection from the beginning.
Therefore, as you can imagine, I have seen many types and kinds from tanneries
all over the world.
I vividly remember the moment I stumbled upon Texas Conceria and touched "Houston",
I was oblivious and lost for words at its beauty.
This may be the most beautiful & perfected "Vegetable Tan grain leather"
and I do say it with a full conviction.Read More
I thought I had done enough traveling for 2016 and I did my best to avoid traveling to
Italy again this year. However, with the holidays approaching and
my supplier scheduled to close for 3 weeks,
I was already searching for the cheapest tickets to Italy.Read More
From the moment I decided to re-do the entire collection,
it felt like a race for the past 3 months. I needed a small break. Somehow,
I stumbled into Sedona, Arizona and I knew this was the place I wanted to visit.
Probably because of the excitement,
I woke up at 2am on Friday morning and was off to Sedona.
The drive was long and tiresome, but when the beautiful landscape started to appear,
all the fatigue disappeared immediately.
"The sun never sets on the British Empire" is a phrase that I have heard a lot.
One can definitely feel the might of the once most powerful
empire on the streets of London with all the government and
cabinet buildings on Whitehall street.
From Trafalgar plaza to Big Ben! Stepping into the British Museum
you can see London's entire history from the collection of arts and heritages from its previous colonies.Read More
Located in Downtown Los Angeles, this workshop has been Sandast's home for the past 4 years.
When I found this location, it was one big empty place. Right after signing the lease,
I got a call from a friend saying that he has these beautiful woods for absolutely nothing.Read More
Ever since I came to Los Angeles almost 30 years ago, it has been my home.
This is where I grew up, got married, and where my three boys were born.
Los Angeles is an amazing city.Read More
As some of you may know, I have decided to re-do my entire collection from scratch a few months ago.
As an American leather company I wanted to create a collection that
reflects the heritage of American value.
And what better place is there to visit and learn than Dallas, Texas?Read More
I had no idea how beautiful Chicago was prior to visiting the city a month ago.
The season and the perfect weather definitely helped,
but besides all that, the city itself was beautiful...Read More
