Tom has come to visit us sometime in December 2018. He told me Kathleen had been wearing her backpack for a long time and it was literally falling apart. Tom had taken Kathleen for a new backpack for a while, but simply couldn’t find one that Kathleen liked.

In our first meeting with Kathleen, this is what she said, “Chris, I like my backpack to be “Hobo style with draw strings and I want several pockets on outside”.

So after a few weeks of preliminary sketches and brainstorming, we came up with the design and had our 2nd meeting with Kathleen, and she approved the new design and got us started.

After 2 months, we finally had the pattern and started working on a dummy sample. Once its size & functions were confirmed by Kathleen, it was time to make Kathleen her new backpack.

Kathleen’s choice of color was Italian black & Silver hardware as was the case with her old backpack. The leather was cut & we began the “SANDASTing”.

Once tanned, it was time to combine the leather with the best material by Luis who is a true artisan in our Studio.

After 4 long months, Kathleen’s backpack was finally ready. Kathleen liked the 3 pockets options our #JamesPetit provided and same look was applied on her backpack.

We were very happy to see Kathleen’s backpack and genuinely excited for Kathleen’s encounter with her backpack next day. Tom had a special message for Kathleen and we had his message inscribed inside the bag.

Kathleen & Tom came to meet the new backpack….. and there were smiles everywhere.
Upon seeing the personal message from Tom, I turned my attention to the roof, but I believe I may have seen some kisses.

Getting a warm hug from Kathleen and seeing Tom beaming with smiles… reminded me how lucky and rewarding it is to be doing what we do here in our Studio.
