Leo is a welder & he knew he was always going to be one.   Even in his early childhood, he had always been fascinated with Metal & Fire.  I guess we all are wired differently.  So when he finally got accepted to be a member of his long-desired family of "Local 731", he asked me to make a special helmet to celebrate the occasion.  So his new Welding Helmet got started.

First, we cut the top & bottom portion from his old conventional helmet

Before the leather work got started,  his close friend, "Oscar" had painted the Los Angeles theme on the helmet.  Oscar appears to be quite talented.  I do like this painting!

Once the painting & other things were finished,  our team took over.

We chose "Cognac" color to inscribe his name & his union.  It felt like a great match with his line of work.    After that, he asked me to punch some holes for breathing.

So a few days ago, he finally came to pick up his Helmet & he was one happy camper!

I have a feeling Leo will enjoy his job even more & we wish him the very best of luck in his young career!

It was really interesting & fun project.  So much so that we are looking forward to making one for Hockey Goalie.  If you are a friend of one or know one,  please let him know that we would love to make him one!
