Leather
At Sandast, we choose only the top quality leather. Our Bridle leather is first grade bull hide traditionally used by saddle makers. It is vegetable tanned using dies found in vegetables and tree bark. The Latigo leather is cattle hide that is tanned by using combination of oil, wax and chrome.

The leather used undergoes several phases of transformation before becoming an elemental piece of a Sandast bag. Various distressing and stretching techniques are applied to reveal the newness. We soften it, fade the color, darken the finishes, and beat it up artfully until we achieve a naturally inconsistent finish. All sewing and stitching is done on traditional Italian machinery.

Hardware
Every zipper, pull, buckle, d-ring, rivet, snap and hook is carefully selected to match the bags. Like the leather aging process, Sandast hardware is “rusted” with special techniques to exude the impression of antique look to complement the distressed finish of the leather. All threads, snaps, and brass buckles are developed and produced either in the U.S or Italy in order to retain the highest in quality and authenticity.
